9:48 am - palin and animals
|
i dont usually talk politics but.. please please please educate yourselves on sarah palin and her views/actions with animal rights and wildlife... a little googling will do you good. i cant, in my heart, vote for someone who is fighting against saving the polar bears, trying to make it so wolves can be killed from the sky...etc etc etc...Real women shoot moose? on her bag?? no thank you. These things matter as well.

"When You are Old" by Yeats
When you are old and gray and full of sleep And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true; But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face.
And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead, And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

so i had been waiting for dr mills to call and gimme an update on stella. eventually at like 4 i ran to the pet store to get stuff for sam for giving his meds, he is a pain in the ass about it..i get home at 5 and have 3 messages on my phone. i couldnt even listen to them, i jsut knew..dr mills is my moms vet too and i told her to call my mom if i wasnt home. i call my mom instead of checking messages and my mom is weird and i say 'whats wrong!' she starts to cry and i say 'omg she died..' and i seriously sobbed. like chest aching, stomach aching yelling sobs. my mom kept crying and telling me how sorry she was and how guilty she feels. my birthday is the 22nd and these babies were my bday present from her. we had no idea it would turn out like this. my sister immediately came over to tell us to come back to her house, didnt want me sitting in the house upset. chaos from them here but good. dr mills calls me back and i cried as soon as i heard her voice, i know she had been fighting so hard to save her. she said she finally checked her blood count, normal kittens are 30 and stelly was 15. at 10 you need a transfusion and she said there were 3 cats there that could have been donors. she didnt even get a chance because stella went a lil downhill. her numbers said she was getting jaundiced which means your liver is failing...dr mills said she laid down and closed her eyes and that was that.. no pain at all it seemed, she was comfy and with dr mills and laurie, her right hand helper. laurie got attatched to stella, carried her around with her in the office and let her cuddle... dr mills said laurie had been crying over this too. she said ' we all got attatched to her, we just couldnt not be' dr mills cried on the phone with me too which made me cry more. this woman is beyond amazing, has a heart that is so rare in people. laurie too. she said she really thinks today stella knew that she was all done, she knew and was ready and ok. so unfair. my sweet lil baby. she would follow me room to room and never let me leave her site, we had seriously bonded. she would climb up my body while i sat on the couch and lay in the crook of my neck so she could get skin... and omg so vocal. and i called her my acrobat because she loved scaling the side of the crate they were in. and such a piggy with food, she gobbled it all up, i was never worried about her, i thought if i lsot either of them it would be sam from the stomach parasite and dehydration. man. its beyong heartbraking and sad.. 8 or 9 weeks old. and the sweetest thing i have ever seen. Sam's been ok without her and he is holding up better than i thought. he wants to be really close with Grace. Grace isnt ready yet but hopefully soon. grace has been really good and respnsive with him for such a short time. im not going to get a 2nd kitten for sam. honestly i dont want another except stella. we loved and named her before we ever even met her. she touched me in crazy ways for such a short time and was like that with everyone who knew her, the dr and laurie instantly attatched to her. it was so hard not to be, she was just precious. love you, stelly.

10:57 am - Sick Stelly
|
Got a call from our amazing vet this morning.. Stella, she has been there since thursday. Had a glycemic crash last nite and her blood stuff was so low it wasnt even registering or could be read. when they took her blood it was watery. dr mills said she thinks the fever has comprmised her bone marrow and her spleen is enlarged. she almost died. i asked if we shsould put her to sleep and she said to wait the weekend and we'll see about it Monday. i dont even know if i wrote or updated but they came home wed. and that nite stella had an awful turn with congestion, oozing eyes, listless, not eating.. brought her back thursday and she had a fever of 105.5. and then this last nite. sweet Stella, poor baby. Sam, on the other hand, is doing great. perky and playing and sweet boy. He adores my Grace and i think he is too busy to concentrate on stella being gone. he just came in the room meowing so time to go.

10:08 am - Humane Society INhumane Society
|
So much for the excitement of adopting new animals into our family... Sam had water diarrhea and wasnt eating much at all...stella was better but then developed the diarrhea.. sam started the first nite of getting them.. immediately took a stool sample thursday to the vet and brought them to be weighed.. a mere pound each. skin and bones, no exaggeration. i went and bought evry kind of kitten food i could find.. ended up making their food, the milk replacement and second step food for them which is just thick milk like oatmeal. friday we are back at the vet and sam tested positive for Giardia, a highly contagious to human as well, stomach parasite. wreaks havoc on kittens. Mine didnt weigh anything so they could not afford to be having this much diarrhea and no food. I honestly thought the little boy would die. All weekend im on the phone with the vet. I call the humane society and they say call back monday. monday morning i call the humane society and talk to a manager. ive never been more livid in my life. She was rude and flippant kept telling me over and over that all she would do for me is return the kittens and give my money back. Yea like im going to give you these babies so you can neglect them again and/or put them to sleep because they are sick.. and at this point ive spent well over $4-500 on vet/food/litter trying to keep them alive. Before I hang up i tell her that I will write letters to every newspaper, every media source, tell everyone i know the kind of people they are and the establishment they run. For me to have adopted 2 animals on wednesday and they are near death by Friday IS NOT OK! They cannot keep doing this to people. They didnt even take a quick and easy stool sample of their animals. Sam could have been prevented and treated with meds before it got awful. Im going to write all of those and send the INhumane society copies of each, im going to contact every pet store that deals with adoptions with them. I got the contact info for the president of the INhumane society and will contact him as well. Its been a nightmare. You cant touch the cats because they can give you a stomach parasite. My daughter cant enjoy her new babies. Not even a week of having them and they are being kept at the vet. My house has to be disinfected. every time they poop i have to throw the entire kitty litter away. My stomach has been ill since i got them. Its just unreal for the InHumane society to try and stick to their story that they were perfectly healthy there. NO, they were not.

10:50 pm - steam train/riverboat
|
I cant believe i forgot to write this down.. Yesterday morning im browsing craigslist and it said there was a flea market next to an antique store in Essex- call my sister up and she is game so we pack up em and maddy and hit the road. We kidded the way up that it would be itty bitty or really fab. TWO FREAKIN TABLES hahahah it was a joke. But the town was beautiful and I cant believe ive never explored there before.. antique store heaven and the town is quaint and adorable. my sister says OH we should take the kids on the train ride!! and there is also a boat ride!! Me like a fool agrees- which is insane because any things like that where my feet are not on the ground give me insane anxiety and ive never been on a train before and have a fear of water * i cant swim, no clue how that happened* Its the Essex Steam train and it was really cool i guess.. all original and old fashion inside and the windows open halfway up. I thought the train would go faster but it went super slow. *ill finish tomorrow*

rainy crummy day.. and i have a kid who is addicted to outings and being away from the house son. today has been boring. emma has a molar way back giving grief still, sleeping attatched to my boob which is getting old fast. and im getting sick, dammit. feel so incredibly crappy today. yuck yuck yuck. matts been home sleeping away the day. great. not much going on. em had her first art class yesterday. she was a bit overwhelmed cuz there was lots of kids there and she woke up cranky so it wasnt the greatest. she made a cute collage though. tomorrow is musik garten and she loves that one. signing her up for yoga that starts in october i think. going to do it on saturdays. this crap gets expensive. i believe its 98 for 7 wks of yoga. her art is 66 for 6 wks. and the music is 200 or something. crazy. she loves it so much and has fun though, so - i was so shy as a kid i dont want her to be. so far so good. she has begun taking the teachers hand and at art the other day she actually sat on the teachers lap on the floor for a min. things she would not have done months or even weeks ago. uh my head hurts and my throat hurts and my eyes burn. my house is beyond disaster. cranky moody, yuck. youd think id had my period but its over and done. and it was a beast. PPartum ones suck after nursing for sure. way worse than they used to be for me before baby. my baby will be 2 in a few months, that in itself is insane. if you ask her to spell her name she will say e m m a. i cant remember if ive posted all this before. if she likes a certain show she will memorize the dialogue and say it along with them. and now my genius child memorizes dance routines to her fave songs on barney or the like. her fave right now is ' mr sun, sun, mr golden sun- please shine down on me..these lil children want to play with you so please come down and play with me' she sings it and does the arm motions and feet dancing. its the funniest cutest thing in the world. so ready for bed and its 6 pm. yesterday em was in bed at 6 30! im outta here,

ok i seriously need to get off my ass and get work done. my poor kid is bored and im lazy. my dentist is amazing, the teeniest bit of sweeling where if you didnt know you wouldnt notice...no pain, just a lil sore still and it gets a lil achey if i do too much... i found TONS of awesome homeschooling preschool things online last nite.. i am sending her to preschool but before then, this gives me some great ideas of things to do with her. i signed up for this kit they send each month- comes with an activity book, story book, etc etc. em loves learning and has amazing attention span and memory so none of it can hurt.. ive been looking into different types of school for when the time comes cuz i need to start saving for it... waldorf is out, they dont do much of any academics til age 6 or 7 if i remember right... em is totally not right for that..... oh god emma has a new fave show-- ready.. freakin Teletubbies LOL out of the blue one day she is talking to me and told me their names- i had no idea she had even seen it before!!! so if i put it on she laughs so hard and squeels at them.. she thinks they are hilarious... her other new thing this week is fly like a bird, stomp like an elephant, waddle like a penguin, splash like a fish... she does each one and its too funny.. for the elephant she puts her arm at her nose for the trunk and stomps around the room. 18 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she said 'holy shit jesus christ' the other day after i fell- i must have said it when i fell, oops lol she hasnt said it since.. she is really into music now and will ask for it all the time and especially in the car...she recites 'row row row your boat' now and has it by heart. in love with the play area at the mall. now she is hanging over the computer trying to get me off so there is my cue. matt picked up a 2nd job. we needs the money badly.. ok more later!

copied from a group so i remember-
FRESH IS BEST!
Just remember that anytime you have to choose a healthy snack or meal -- if it's fresh, it will contain more nutrients. Here are a few recipes that your children may enjoy preparing and eating. Remember, it's perfectly okay to substitute or eliminate foods in these recipes to accommodate for personal taste, nutritional needs, and allergies.
Fun with Fresh Fruit Salad Cut up a banana and apple into bite size pieces, and cut seedless grapes in half (to avoid choking hazard). Mix together in bowl. Serve as is or add this simple dressing: Mix together 1/4 cup of plain yogurt with one teaspoon of real vanilla flavoring and pour it over the fruit. Mix together and eat. Don't forget to talk about the fruit -- what region of the world it originates from, how it grows, how it is harvested. Talk about what kinds of animals eat this fruit. Don't forget to talk about vanilla too. If you have a vanilla bean in the cupboard, be sure to show it to the kids. You can have fun with the peel of fruit too. Adults can try to peel the apple so the skin comes off in one, long continous piece. Then, invite the kids to participate in old folk lore. Throw the apple peel over their shoulder. Whatever letter of the alphabet the peel forms as it lands on the floor -- will be the initial of the person they will marry. Take strips of banana peels and form them into letters, numbers, and geometric shapes.
Initial Pudding Mash and mix a small ripe banana with a fork (or clean fingers) until it is smooth and not too lumpy. Add 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce. Stir in one tablespoon of plain yogurt. Divide the "pudding" into 2 cups. Take some blueberries and arrange them so they look like the first letter of the name of the person who is eating the pudding. The first letter of the first name is called an "initial." (By the way, do your kids know where bananas, applesauce, blueberries and yogurt come from?)
Cookie Cutter Toast Take slices of whole grain bread and use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes from the bread. Then, carefully toast the bread. Spread with your favorite all-fruit jam or nut butter. Try organic apple butter, pumpkin butter and plum butter too. You can find them in the health food or jam and jelly section of most grocery stores. Encourage your kids to make up a story about the shapes they cut out -- animal shaped cookie cutters and holiday cookie cutters really lend themselves to imaginative tales.

today emma heard something for tom and jerry tales dvd- she says ' oh mama, tom and cheerios!' LOL putting her to bed tonite we were talking about what we did tody- its amazing she remembers and tells me certain things- we were talking about how we visited with thommy and andrea and she goes on and on bout andre- oh i like her, she is so pretty! was too cute. her faavorite books/songs now are Down by the Bay - she has it memorized and will recite it.. and also We're going on a bear hunt- well today going to playgroup at the Y we had to walk through grass.. first the verse for bear hunt story which she has memorized and recites ' we're going on a bear hunt, we're gonna catch a big one, what a beautiful day, we're not scared... UH OH grass! long wavy grass.. we cantgo over it, cant go under it, oh no we have to go through it!' so walking through the grass today all the sudden she starts ' uh oh mama, long wavy grass!!! we gotta go through it!!!' i was so excited, she is brilliant. 18 months as of 4 days ago on the 12th..more of the same things with her, talking tons and constantly.. counting things as she points with her finger, abc's , learning colors which is turning out to be tough.. kisses, hugs and cuddles...cant remember if i posted this or not but a week or so ago i asked her if she wanted to go bye bye with me and she says 'go by yourself, mama' LOOL!!!!! no clue where she heard that one... her fave shows are little bear and jakers now.. her face is thinning and she looks like a toddler more so now, but always my baby... battery is going to die.. either way, i love the kid intensely and she is brilliant.
